Illustrated Custom Boatbuilding.
We recommend that you read
this hardcover book - Order now
and we will pay the postage.

Already over 250 of this design have been completed and are in service world-wide.  The boat plans and frame patterns are easy to follow and you can build this boat in FIBERGLASS, STEEL or ALUMINUM.

It has a full displacement, semi-displacement or planing hull and can be built as a family cruiser or as a rugged work boat. The chine hull has provided an excellent overall hull shape and plating has been calculated to provide easy construction with minimum wastage.

This design was prepared for operators in the North Sea and therefore the boat had to a rugged and safe sea boat. The full displacement hull makes for economical operation and has been designed to operate around the 7 to 8 kt cruising speed range with a 60 hp engine.

Amateurs with welding experience should have no problems building this vessel in STEEL or ALUMINUM using the full size frame patterns which come with the boat plans, and the straight forward, step by step instructions.   If you choose FIBERGLASS construction then virtually anyone with the very minimum of hands on DIY experience can ( and already have) built this boat.

FAMILY VERSION

The boat plans for the CW 30 now include a family version as shown above and on left. You have a choice between a V drive or stern drive installation - or if you modify the interior lay-out to suit, you could have a conventional drive with the engine box in the salon - could double as table.

Hi, My name is Bob Fuller from Little Hampton West Sussex in the UK. Got to say your boat plans were a doddle to understand and fabrication.

We finished the boat recently and everyone who has looked at it agrees that whilst remaining practical it is one of the prettiest looking charter/trawler boats around as discussed with you previously we intend to market the boat and continue to use your hull design as our base, adding our own features and that of our future clients.

You can see what we have achieved using your boat plans and our skills. I hope this is of interest to you regards Bob Fuller

This Coastworker 30 is being built by Graham in Gympie, Queensland. Inside has already all blasted and primed. When building upside down this is a good thing to have done before turning. The deck can then be made from plates blasted and primed on one side and then the entire outside can be done as one lot after all the welding is finished

Stringers notched into frames.
Also shown in this shot is the skeg
that has been designed to protect
the prop and rudder from damage.

Fully plated up bow section.
Be sure to only tack weld
plates until entire hull is plated

Working first one side then the
other the hull plates are laid and
 tacked onto the stringers

Last plate waiting to be laid on

Fully plated. Notice split pipe rubbing
strake, a good thing to incorporate
 at this stage.

Rolling the hull over. Plenty of old tires required here. Graham is now working on the engineering, deck and superstructure. We hope to bring you more photos as he progresses towards launch day.
