This Coast Worker 28 ( 28' x 10' 8.5m x 3.05m ) is easy to build from Bruce Roberts Cutting files and boat plans - It takes only 75 hours to weld up this boat. We also have a 8' - 3" ( 2.51m ) beam aluminum light weight version which is ideal for trailering. All these versions are included in the STUDY PLANS PACKAGE.

This design makes for a good first time boatbuilding project and makes an ideal all purpose Workboat, Dive boat or Fishing boat. With it's full range of hull shapes it can be turned to almost any task. Over 1,000 Coastworker 25 / 28 have been completed from our boat plans and are now in service in various parts of the world.

You may choose between either displacement, semi-displacement or planing hull forms. Power options range from a 50 hp engine in the displacement version to 250 hp in the planing version. The pilot house may be extended aft if you wish to build her as a family cruiser and require more accommodation. Power units offer a choice of Single or Twin inboard or Stern Drives, or even single or twin Out-boad power has been fitted to this versatile boat.

The boat plans and frame patterns are easy to follow and you can build this boat in your chosen material ... see options above. With its full displacement, semi-displacement or planing hull this boat can be built as a family cruiser or as a rugged work boat.

The chine hull has provided an excellent overall hull shape and plating has been calculated to provide easy construction with minimum wastage. This design was prepared for operators in the North Sea and therefore the boat had to a rugged and safe sea boat. The full displacement hull makes for economical operation and has been designed to operate around the 7 to 8 kt cruising speed range with a 60 hp engine.

Amateurs with welding experience should have no problems building this vessel using the full size frame patterns which come with the boat plans, and the straight forward, step by step instructions. If you choose fiberglass construction then virtually anyone with the very minimum of hands on DIY experience can ( and already have) built this boat.

HI Bruce, I recently received my boat plans and patterns for the coastworker 25', 8' planning hull Steel / Aluminium. I must say I am more than happy.
One thing I am curious about getting though is the patterns on a cad file, I have just noticed this information on the your web site and was hoping you could send me some information on the cost and the style of format e.g. dwg,dxf etc.. thanks once again Brett Muller

ANSWER: We can supply AutoCAD files for any parts of the boat plans and patterns ... they are in DWG format.
