the "Trader 65". Remember us??
She sails like dream. She is the fastest boat in the Abacos, Bahamas where
we run our charter business. She has hit 12 knots....sailing like a freight
train! She is stoutly rigged and heavily ballasted.
PASSAGEMAKERS:
Paul and Linda Jauncey and family made a successful Atlantic crossing in his self built steel
Dutch style powerboat Dreamworld and at time of writing is currently undertaking a Pacific
crossing
Jim
and Susy Sink completed a round the world voyage between 1991 and 1995 in their
46 ft / 14.02 M cruising powerboat Salvation 11. which is powered
by a single 140 HP diesel engine backed up by a 27-hp wing engine. Salvation 11 displaces
44,000 Lbs / 19,558 Kg and carries 835 Gal /
3,160 Lit. of diesel fuel and 250 Gal / 946 Lit. of water.
When powering at hull speed of
8.3 knots / 20.35 kph, she consumes around 3 g p h / 11.35 lph. It is worth noting that by
reducing speed to 7.4 knots 13.69 kph the fuel consumption drops to 2 gph /5.18 lph which
shows how a small drop in speed can produce a large saving in fuel. By the end of the voyage Salvation 11 had called
at 528 ports, visited 51 countries (including 34 states of the USA) and motored just over
302,500 nautical miles in 7,760 hours at an average speed of 6.5 knots / 12.02 kph. Here is what one

FOR TY 420) There is not bow spray rail
pictured in the plan. This boat throws a lot of bow spray when it pitches into a heavy
sea. Fun to watch but very cold on your face when you are on the bridge....Robert J. Wouda Could you please email me some
information on the Bow Spray Chines, explained in a article sent to you by Robert J Wouda
of America. I built a WR40/42 launched in April 1999, and since then have been
overwhelmed by the performance in all aspects, but do agree the vessel throws a lot
of spray over the bow in short sharp chop. The vessel performs much better in a sea going
situation with longer swells. Looking forward to a early reply in this
matter...Yours faithfully, John McSwan. DESIGNERS NOTE: The above problem was easily solved...at
Robert and now John's request we made a sketch of where to attach a spray rail to
eliminate the above problem...we designed the WR40/42 in 1968 and have since
included
spray rails or chines in all our more recent designs. Everything is fitting nicely as it should. My crew
is excellent and they are enjoying building a boat like this (regards to restoring old
boats). The yard is next to the *"Swedish Maritime
Administration" and there people were surprised with the speed that the boat has been
developing. They thought that we have had 10 persons for several months when in fact we

Hi, By the way, the TY 620 - 62 foot trawler yacht of
Bruce's design that we are currently building is coming along very well. The quality
of the STEEL OR ALUMINUM PLANS & CUTTING FILES parts are the best we have ever seen, and as a result, we are saving time in
the build. At present, we have 9 welders/fitters working on the boat in three teams.
We have almost all of the plate hung in place and tacked up. We anticipate the seam
welding will start within a few weeks as there are some details to attend to. But we must
say again, that we are very happy with the quality of this TRAWLER STEEL OR ALUMINUM PLANS & CUTTING FILES. Hope
