We along with yourselves have been watching the evolution of the current range of 'new shape' sail and powerboats. We have conducted an depth study on the advantages and other aspects of these some times weird and sometimes wonderful hull shapes. We are now ready offer custom designs embodying the best of these contemporary hull forms ... EMAIL BRUCE to discuss YOUR thoughts.
Meanwhile, we have been adding new designs to our range of boatbuilding plans, full size patterns and cutting files. As you will have noticed there has been some changes in the hull shapes of both sail and powerboats, some of these changes are fine however other modifications do not work well in serious offshore boats.
We only offer designs that make SAFE, SEAWORTHY & COMFORTABLE boats under all sea conditions. The thousands of ocean crossings & circumnavigations that have been taken in boats built to our design is proof ... that we only offer safe, comfortable cruising boat designs.

TRAWLER YACHT 520 Hi Bruce, a belated Happy New Year to you and yours. 14 years on our TY 520 now. A couple of weeks cruising Phang Nga Bay Thailand over Xmas and New Year. We were anchored off Koh Hong , an island in Phang Nga Bay one morning when word went out there was to be a Royal visit to the Island. Navy gunboats, Frigates, Seal teams in Black inflatables, Coast Guard and Marine Dept boats cleared several hundred tourists off the Island and escorted all civilian boats away from the island except us on Saraburi. All the officials waved at us as they cleared everyone away and we were always waiting for our orders to move but 5 hours later the Royal Yacht arrived and anchored about 100 mtrs from us. Other Royal boats brought in many many staff and they proceeded to have a tour of the Island and swims and food.
They all left around 8pm that night leaving our Bruce Roberts TY520 as the only boat at Koh Hong. I can only think that your design must have emanated such prestige that we were allowed to stay! Anyway Bruce I just found this email in the DRAFTS folder so I apologize for the delay.

Hello Bruce, We were the original builders of the yacht "Florrisant" She was built with fiberglass, on the Mornington Peninsula. A shallow keel (fiberglass) drawing 4'6".
We sold her to a gentleman and his wife, and she was in Paynesville, when we were invited for a sail on her. A memorable experience. She sailed beautifully.

Good morning, Bruce We will have plans on summer 2024 July-August with connecting 20 years celebrating of our Yacht "Diana" (your project- Roberts - 58). Ceremony take place in Irkutsk in yacht club about history, constructing and development of our boat. Evening small party. Second ceremony Baikal Lake traveling route on yacht "Diana" around Baikal Lake North Coast. Between next month July-August. We invite You with your family to our yacht, to our Lake Baikal. Good Evening, My name is Katie Turkelson and I am the daughter of Wayne Bolla. In the early 80s, my Dad decided it was time to fulfill his dreams and build his own sailboat. He did the research and selected your design for a 44ft steel sailboat.
He completed the build and launched the Pipedream shortly before I was born.
Fast forward 25 years & he was set to fulfill the second part of his sailing dream and took The Pipedream across the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. I joined him in Sicily and was able to spend a year sailing the Italian coast, Greek Islands, and the Turkish coast. After three and a half years he brought the boat back stateside. VOYAGER DS 440
Hi Bruce, just to let you know our steel DS440 was in Palafox Marina in Pensacola Florida on Sept 16th when Hurricane Sally destroyed the marina. As the docks started to disintegrate, I dropped a 100' of chain with our 85lb Manson Supreme and held us for the next 10 hours as boats and dock parts collided with us.
Lots of fiberglass boats collided with us and a 42' Sea Ray tried to come aboard. He lost!! Our Voyager DS 440 hull is scratched and Sea Ray 10 stanchions are bent but we made it, thanks to a steel hull. Thanks, Guy Hall SEE STUDY PLANS FOR MANY PHOTOS.

Arab Emirates have built two Voyager 495's from our cutting files and plans - the boats are for the Navy Training Department - Many other governments around the world have built boats to our design including Drug Enforcement and fast patrol boats as well as several sail training vessels.

Over a year later, and we're still floating.....amazing. Approaching 10,000 nm - West Coast of North America to Mexico, Marquesas, Tuamotu's, Tahiti, Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea, Bora Bora, Palmerston, Beverage Reef, Nuie, Tonga, and just awaiting friend's arrival before jumping south to New Zealand for the cyclone season.
Boat has been superb - easy motion, easy handling, good boat speed - the hull is great. Our steel construction also had us leading our boat buddies in whenever the way became challenging - the confidence it provides allows us to get into beautiful anchorages.
Attached a coupe sailing pics from recent Bluewater festival in Vava'u - and a nice offshore shot taken from another boat we were passing enroute Manihi to Tahiti. Genoa is furled due to furler issues.....so easily driven we still made good speed . Always get complements on her pretty hull.

Hi Bruce, I'm sorry I did not write before. We had a lot going on. However, we are still sailing, our health is good, the yacht is doing great. We are currently standing in Rome - Porto Turistico Roma Ostia. The pandemic found us in Cannes and stopped us for 3 months, then we continued, slowly, on the Cote d'Azur.
We finished France in Menton - 6 months standstill, my contract in the meantime. In August 2021, we went to Italy, a dozen or so ports, a week on the island of Elba and we got to Rome. We will stay here until the end of March, then Corsica and Sardinia. And what we'll see next. Write what's up with you, are you still in Spain, how is health. Warm greetings.
