Thomas Owens and Linda Maruna that worked with you on the design for the
"Trader 65". Remember us?? She sails like dream. She is
the fastest boat in the Abacos, Bahamas where we run our charter business.
She has hit 12 knots....sailing like a freight train! She is stoutly
rigged and heavily ballasted. We have now been in the Charter business for
TWENTY ODD YEARS!!

PASSAGEMAKERS:
Paul and Linda Jauncey and family made a successful Atlantic crossing in his
self built steel Dutch style powerboat Dreamworld and at time of writing is
currently undertaking a Pacific crossing
Jim and Susy Sink completed a round the world voyage between 1991 and 1995 in
their 46 ft / 14.02 M cruising powerboat Salvation 11. which is powered by a
single 140 HP diesel engine backed up by a 27-hp wing engine. Salvation 11
displaces 44,000 Lbs / 19,558 Kg
and carries 835 Gal / 3,160 Lit. of diesel fuel and 250 Gal / 946 Lit. of water.
When powering at hull speed of 8.3 knots / 20.35 kph, she consumes around 3 g p
h / 11.35 lph. It is worth noting that by reducing speed to 7.4 knots 13.69 kph
the fuel consumption drops to 2 gph /5.18 lph which shows how a small drop in
speed can produce a large saving in fuel. By the end of the voyage Salvation 11
had called at 528 ports, visited 51 countries (including 34 states of the USA)
and motored just over 302,500 nautical miles in 7,760 hours at an average speed
of 6.5 knots / 12.02 kph. Here is what
one Roberts TY40/42
owner had to say about his boat: (
PROTO-TYPE FOR TY 420 ) I launched this boat in June of '97 at Michigan city, IN. Shakedown cruise
got a perfect 10. I just completed a cruise to Florida via the Tenn-Tom to
Tampa where I completed the interior. I returned via the Intercostal, East
coast, Hudson, Erie Canal and the Great Lakes. This vessel performed beyond
my wildest expectations. Fuel economy 10, handling 10, speed 9+ pitch
stability 9+, roll stability 7 or 8. No ballast used.
(Designers note: We recommend ballast in all our displacement FISHING & WORK
BOAT s).
The yard is next to the
*"Swedish Maritime Administration" and there people were surprised with the
speed that the boat has been developing. They thought that we have had 10
persons for several months when in fact we have had three for a couple of
weeks. We are estimating that we will start welding
everything within a couple of weeks. We calculate that we will have the
boats maiden voyage inn late spring. If you are going to the Nordic
region in the fall or spring, please give us a call I would be proud to show

Hi, By the way, the TY
620 - 62 foot FISHING & WORK BOAT yacht of Bruce's design that we are currently building
is coming along very well. The quality of the STEEL OR ALUMINUM PLANS & CUTTING FILES parts are the best
we have ever seen, and as a result, we are saving time in the build. At
present, we have 9 welders/fitters working on the boat in three teams.
We have almost all of the plate hung in place and tacked up.
We
anticipate the seam welding will start within a few weeks as there are some
details to attend to. But we must say again, that we are very happy with the
quality of this FISHING & WORK BOAT STEEL OR ALUMINUM PLANS & CUTTING FILES. Hope to hear from you soon
